Join this module if you want to get familiar with theories about culture and intercultural competences.

Possible Combinations

This module can be combined with 1 or 2 of the following courses for a total of 20 or 30 ECTS.

Target Group

Danish or Exchange students from various faculties or programs of study who have been permitted to study at a university or a University College. The course is particularly suitable for students in the faculties of education, social sciences and humanities.

In order to participate, students must speak English at an advanced level (C level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)).

Purpose 

The students will achieve knowledge of

  • theories about culture and intercultural competence
  • culture and society in English-speaking countries
  • intercultural communicative competence in relation to other cultures
  • linguistic variations of English in a global perspective

General Information

Teaching Methods

All teaching and counselling is in oral and written English. You will experience various teaching methods such as lectures, presentations, dialogue, exchange of experiences, group work, independent studies and a project work at the end of the module.

Conditions

In order to complete the module and obtain a certificate, the student has to:

  • attend and participate actively in class
  • present a didactic design or other practical material related to the subject matter
  • present an ICT-based product with focus on intercultural competence
  • give and receive peer-feedback

Tuition Fee

Course Description

Type of Activity

Theoretical and practical module.

Workload

80 instructional (face-to-face) lessons or counselling, as well as preparations for each class, group work and assignment completion.

Learning Outcome

  • Plan, carry out, evaluate and develop didactic designs or other practical material related to the subject matter
  • Achieve and apply knowledge about topics related to intercultural competence, culture and society

Examination

The examination is the presentation of a portfolio consisting of

  • a presentation a didactic design or practical material related to the subject matter
  • a presentation of a project with a topic related to intercultural competence
  • give and receive peer-feedback of the presentations.

The student will be awarded a grade of pass/fail.
