The module will focus on the structure and usage of the English language, as well as communicative competence and inter-language.
This module can be combined with M2, M3 and/or Education in Sustainable Development to make a 30 ECTS semester.
Please note that schedule conflicts may occur with Education in Sustainable Development in the final timetable in which case students will be offered an alternative module.
Students of Education – Teacher Education, English as a second language or related disciplines
The module will focus on the structure and usage of the English language, as well as communicative competence and inter-language.
We study theories and methods of analysis for learning and teaching English as a foreign/second language.
During the module, we will develop didactic designs for different age groups and class levels.
All applicants for this offer must show proof of English language proficiency. this can be done by submitting one of the accepted language certificates through the application form.

The submitted certificates must not be older than 3 years to be considered valid.
If the applicant does not upload an English test, they will automatically be invited to complete an online test issued by UCL. Applicants may also be invited for an online interview upon our request.
All teaching and counselling is in oral and written English. You will experience several different teaching methods such as lectures, presentations, dialogue, exchange of experiences, group work, independent studies, portfolio work and a project work at the end of the module.
Throughout the module, we will integrate the use of ICT and physical activity in the teaching and didactic designs.
In order to complete the module and obtain a certificate, the student has to produce and present a product in accordance with the given criteria of the module plan, which will be presented in the beginning of the module. This product could be e.g. a webquest, a flipped classroom product, or a traditional lesson plan.
Course days and times will be stipulated in a timetable, which will be available for students at or before semester start.
In order to participate, students must speak English at an advanced level (C level and above in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)).

Attend and actively participate in classes, individual study of the relevant literature for the module, group work, prepare presentations, assignments and the module product.
Presentation of the module product to the class with peer and teacher feedback.
This will be awarded with a pass/fail grade.
