Independent Study - Comparative Project

Course

The purpose of the independent study is to enable the exchange student the opportunity to explore an interdisciplinary educational topic in a comparative manner.

Possible Combinations

This module can be combined with the following modules to make a 30 ECTS semester:

Target Group

Students of Education – Teacher Education, English as a second language, Social Education, pedagogy or related disciplines.

Purpose

The purpose of the independent study is to enable the exchange student the opportunity to explore an interdisciplinary educational topic in a comparative manner.

The outline of project/independent study and subject area must be approved by the student’s home institution, which will be grading and awarding 5 ECTS upon completion. Therefore, the length and specific requirements such as resources to used in and format of the project will be determined by the home institution.

Teaching Methods

As this module is a self-study – independent study – project for students, there will not be separate teaching pertaining to this module.

However, the student will draw from his/her learning experiences from the exchange to UCL University College, Campus Jelling, in particularly from the Summer School, other modules and/or a practice placement.

Lecturers from UCL University College will offer the student topic relevant counselling and feedback throughout the project period. This counselling and feedback will be in English.

Conditions

Write an outline of project/independent study and subject area must be approved by the student’s home institution, which will be grading and awarding 5 ECTS upon completion. Therefore, the length and specific requirements such as resources to used in and format of the project will be determined by the home institution.

The project will be evaluated by the home institution on the basis of a written assignment and/or an oral presentation to be determined, and agreed upon by UCL University College, prior to the semester commencement. 

Topics can be interdisciplinary in nature and/or a comparison of a specific topic of interest seen from a Danish perspective in comparison with their own experiences and practices in their “home” country. The topic must be compatible with the fields of study available through the UCL University College in Jelling, Denmark, which offers Social Education, Teacher Education as well as is the site of the National Centre of Excellence for the Dissemination of History and Cultural Heritage in Denmark.

Tuition Fee
