Top Up Bachelor's Programme
For those of you who want to work with management, concept- and business development from an international perspective.
As a Bachelor of International Hospitality Management, you will be qualified to work with hotel, tourism, and experience management. The BA in International Hospitality Management is a 1½-year bachelor's degree building on your Academy Profession (AP) degree in Service, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Marketing Management, or other similar programmes.
The programme is designed to equip you with knowledge and skills that enable you to work as e.g. a manager, administrator or project manager, or to perform other functions in the multifaceted hospitality industry.
You will be able to independently analyse and evaluate business issues and scenarios and to perform different complex tasks related to the general operation, development, planning, administration and management in hospitality enterprises.
The programme includes a three-month internship, where you will have the opportunity to apply theory and method to real-life situations. The internship will give you an insight into complex issues that managers/consultants face in their daily work.
The programme is comprised of a variety of teaching and learning methods, i.e. lecturing, classroom teaching, guest lecturing, practical classes, presentations (including student presentations), case-studies, seminars (workshops), and project work, as well as an internship in relevant organisations or companies.
The internship period takes place in the third semester. An internship is a full-time equivalent of a job performed in a business setting, with a workload of 30 hours per week (excluding the writing of an internship report and an internship learning journal). Scheduling the internship in the final semester allows the student to acquire professional competences and apply theory and method to a real-life business setting, and to assess and reflect on the practical issues that are relevant to the bachelor's project and final bachelor's examination.
The study programme culminates with a bachelor's project. In the bachelor's project, you demonstrate your ability to combine theoretical, practice- and development-orientated elements and communicate it through a solid methodological foundation. The project is research into and analysis of a practical problem, which is carried out in cooperation with a company/organisation.
An international perspective constitutes an integral part of the International Hospitality Management Programme, which clearly reflects a sustained globalisation trend. One of the main points of working with internationalisation is to help contribute to the professional development and creative thinking of students during classes. An element of internationalisation is inherently embedded in all parts of the curriculum. This is especially visible in the sixth semester, which includes a course in Cultural Awareness & Customer Relations and a work placement that can be taken abroad.
As a student at UCL University College, it is possible to create an international profile during your studies. Depending on your chosen programme you can go on short international modules, study a semester or do your internship abroad, and participate in international projects.
The knowledge and insights that come from international experiences, as you encounter cultures of other countries, can be useful for more than personal enrichment. Such insights may also make you highly attractive to the Danish and international job markets.
Going abroad is an adventure, which will equip you with skills and experiences for life. You will develop yourself both professionally and personally, and you have a great opportunity to make friends and a network abroad.

One of the things that characterise the study programmes at UCL University College is that you will receive an education that emphasises practical experience. Amongst other things, you will work on practical cases in class, and work on projects with real businesses. The most practically-oriented part of the study is the internship, which is an integrated part of all study programmes at UCL.
The internship is your chance to use and test your knowledge and theory in the 'real world'. The internship also gives you the opportunity to test, what exactly you want to do with your degree once graduated.
When the time comes for you to find your first job as a graduate, you will because of a strong internship not only have theoretical knowledge, but also important experience of how it is to work in your specific field of interest.
