The overall theme of this OSE 2023 conference “Situated occupation and everyday life:

Towards environmental, economic, social inclusiveness and sustainability. 

The conference gives voice to and invites a range of submissions that consider the relationship between occupation, health and society aiming for inclusion, equality and social transformation by exploring the potential of new and alternative ways of living and by the use of inclusive methodology and partnerships in occupational science research. As such, this conference will comprise a variety of interdisciplinary and situated occupational science topics of interest to the international occupational science community.

This conference will enable dialogue about complex relations between human occupation, health and society. Society is understood as a social group characterized by people involved in regular social interactions and occupations, sharing a physical or social space, and/or organized by common political and cultural expectations. We invite contributions from all those interested in the conference theme and the discipline of occupational science. Submissions may be theoretical, educational, or research based.

 

Pre-conference day the 24th of August 2023

The pre-conference day is reserved for free networking, meetings and research groups offering workshops and seminars. Please contact the planning committee if a conference room is needed, as a limited number of rooms is available on the venue (contact: hkkr@ucl.dk)

 

The conference days the 25th and 26th of August 2023

The conference program is planned to be available in March 2023 and will be presented on this webside.

 

Registration (In-person attendance) is offered to 250 delegates.

Registration rates:

The registration rates are based on the scope of previous OSE conferences, and registration is carried out consecutively:

  • Delegates from High Income Countries: Early Bird (estimated to about 180 delegates): € 260
    • Early Bird rates are available before the deadline of 31st of March 2023. Payment must be received prior to this date to qualify for the discounted rate
  • Delegates from High Income Countries: Full Fee (estimated to about 20 delegates): € 280
  • Delegates from Low and Lower-middle Income Countries and students: Reduced fee (estimated to about 30 delegates) € 175
    • Low and Middle income economies: To qualify for the Low- and Middle-income economies rate, you must receive your main income from a country that is classified as "Low and Lower-middle Income Country" according to the World Bank classification. If you select this fee during your registration, please send a proof of residence e.g. link to your profile on your workplace.
    • The Student Rate applies to those who are a student at the time of registration and have a student card valid in 2023. Students are those studying in an entry level education program to become a qualified professional or students who are undertaking full time doctoral studies or similar post entry level education. A valid document, i.e. student card or letter issued by the school/university/ institution must accompany the student registration.

Congress Dinner

Celebrate your time in Denmark with colleagues at the Congress Dinner on Friday the 25th, which will be held at Restaurant North Atlantic’ at the North Atlantic House at 19.00. The North Atlantic House is a meeting place for people, companies and organizations who are interested in the North Atlantic area, specifically in the Faroe Islands, Iceland and Greenland. The North Atlantic House is also a showcase for culture and art and sale of North Atlantic products.

The North Atlantic House is situated at Odense Harbor that was built at the beginning of the 19th century. After more than 150 years as a busy industrial port, Odense Harbor is now transformed into a popular local area with a vibrant cultural life. Recently, it has also become possible to take a dip in Odense's new harbor bath. The bath contains changing rooms, a sauna and other facilities, and with the free entrance to the partially heated pool , it is a popular area of Odense.

There will be a limited amount of tickets for the Congress Dinner and tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

Price for dinner: 75 Euro. The price will include a 3-course dinner made with a Nordic touch and a glass of wine.

Tickets can be purchased through the registrations page. The tickets are paid with a separate invoice, which is sent together with the registration invoice. Tickets for the congress dinner or Anarkist are distributed upon registration at the conference venue.

 

 

Alternative to congress dinner: 

If you wish to go out and have dinner with your colleges in a more informal manner, we can recommend Anarkist beer and food lab. Anarkist is both a microbrewery and a restaurant, and the beer and its flavors play an essential part in the dishes. Both the beer and menu change with the seasons, so there is always something new to try.

Friday the 25th of August at 19.00 Anarkist offers the conference delegates a special beer tasting and a light pub meal for a minimum of 80 participants and a maximum of 100 participants. There will therefore be a limited number of tickets available for this event and tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

Price for dinner: 35 Euro.

Odense offers a wide selection of accommodation options. The conference committee has pre-booked rooms at four centrally located hotels at a lower conference rate, near the railway station and within walking distance to shopping and many of Odense's attractions such as The H.C. The best way to get from Copenhagen Airport (CPH lufthavn) to Odense train station (Odense st) is by train which takes around 1h 45m. Book train tickets here

The best way to get to UCL university College from Odense the railway station is by bus. Travels by bus, train and pram can be planned here

The best way to get to UCL university College from Odense station is by bus number 35 towards Skt Klemens. The bus departs from bus stop D right outside the train station. You can experience the poet's birthplace, where his parents stayed with another family due to poverty. You can also visit his childhood home, which was the place where he discovered the world and began his poetic adventure. Also, when you walk through the city's old streets, you will be able to feel the atmosphere from that time and explore in H.C. Andersen's footsteps. The walk in H.C. Andersen's footsteps also offers a stop at the A visit to the newly build ‘H.C. Andersen House’ that is a journey into the author’s creative universe – and his world-famous fairy tales. Møntergården

Through H. C. Andersen's footsteps, you will also pass by the museum ‘Møntergården’. Here you step back in time, where life takes place as in H. C. Andersen's time. You willmeet an authentic urban environment from the 19th century, where you can walk on cobbled streets between the farm hens. You can also see several different exhibitions, for example, "Funen - in the middle of the world", "City life" and "Children's backyard".

Art museum Brandts

Odense is home to Funen's largest art museum, Kunstmuseum Brandts, which is located by Brandts Passage. Here you can experience the museum's various exhibitions and events in the unique old building complex with four floors. Every year, the museum presents ten new exhibitions which consist of modern and classical art, as well as today's pop culture images. On the top floor, you can find a collection of more than 15,000 classic works of art, international photography, films and drawings and experience some of the world's best artists, photographers and image creators.

The funen village

You can also take a walk in the countryside in the middle of the city if you visit the Funen open-air museum Den Fynske Landsby (The Funen Village). The Funen Village strive to create an understanding of the areas common cultural-historical roots and to be a living museum that provides a sense of life in the 19th century. Here you can step directly into the history of Funen, and the museum's activities and events help to make your visit very authentic. Activities at the museum follow the course of the seasons. You also have the opportunity to prepare food over a fireplace or old stoves or to go for a ride in a horse-drawn carriage.

Odense Zoo

Since Odense ZOO opened in 1930, it has been a green oasis in the city of Odense.  The Odense River flows right through the zoo , creating an enchanting atmosphere for which the zoo is well-known and admired.
