COPRA - Core Practises in Science Education (English)

The COPRA project contributes to the improvement of science education in primary schools and in teacher training programs through experimental work involving systematic observations and analysis of teacher core practices in video-recorded science education.

The aim of COPRA is to strenghten science-based education in both primary schools and teacher education. This is achieved through systematic observation and analysis of video recordings of science education with a particular focus on examining teacher core practices.

In the project, researchers, science educators, and science teachers collaborate to identify and define relevant core practices in science education. These practices are then used to develop reasearch- and practice-based teaching-designs for teacher education, where video-recordings play a central role.

One of the concrete outcomes of COPRA will be a mini-library containing video material from science education, which can be used in teacher education as well as continuing professional development. The video material will include examples of didactic situations and support the competence development of student teachers and practicing teachers.
