Exchange Programme

Target Group

The course is advanced and is relevant for students within the field of business. It’s a prerequisite that the student has had the fundamental business understanding course, typically lectured in the first 2 years of any bachelor’s degree in business.

Purpose

The course gives a broad and updated introduction to change management. The academic content is based on the understanding of change management as a complex contextual and processual phenomenon. The approach is based on a learning theory, and cognitive perspective.

Proof of English proficiency

All applicants for this offer must show proof of English language proficiency corresponding to a minimum of B2 on the CEFR scale. This can be done by submitting one of the accepted language certificates through the application form.

The accepted certificates and minimum requirements are:

  • IELTS: Minimum score: 6.5
  • TOEFL internet-based test: Minimum score: 94 (for tests taken before 21st January 2026) or 4.5 (for tests taken after 21st January 2026)
  • Cambridge ESOL examinations: Advanced/CAE or Proficiency/CPE - Grade: C, B or A
  • Cambridge ESOL examinations First Certificate: Grade: A
  • Oxford Online Placement test: Minimum score: 75 overall + 75 in each subtest

The submitted certificates must not be older than 3 years to be considered valid.
If the applicant does not upload an English test, they will automatically be invited to complete an online test issued by UCL. Applicants may also be invited for an online interview upon our request.

Teaching Methods

Lectures, group work, assignments and plenary discussions.

For teaching, active student involvement is required. Learning activities include self-tuition, lectures, group work, presentations and plenary discussions. The students will work with a change project for a real-life case company. Students are expected to use the literature and models presented to suggest improvements to the change project in the case company.


Conditions

In order to participate in the oral exam, the student must submit 3 assignments by the set deadline, before the oral exam.

Tuition Fee

  • approach change management literature in a critical, reflective way
  • communicate on change management issues to managers and workers in organizations
  • develop knowledge on change management from theory and practical experience

Portfolio-based oral exam.

In exam groups of 2-4 students, the students submit 3 consecutive case assignments. The 2 first cases are theoretical, and the third case is a real-life company case. Each assignment represents the maximum size of 5 pages. The oral exam is a group exam of 15 minutes duration per student, including examiners' discussion of grade, and informing plus explaining the grade.

Exam prerequisites 

In order to participate in the oral exam, the 3 assignments must be submitted before the oral exam, by the set deadline, see also the rules about examination prerequisites in the programme regulations.

If a prerequisite is not fulfilled, the student cannot participate in the oral exam, and have used one exam attempt.
