Traineeship
Doing a clinical placement in Denmark will give you the possibilities to face new professional challenges and solutions within Nursing.
Possible Combinations
A traineeship can be combined with the short course InnoAddiction.
Target Group
Nursing exchange students enrolled at one of our partner institutions only.
Purpose
The exchange student brings relevant learning outcomes to the clinical placement.
Students must count on transport between campus, accommodation, and clinical placement
Teaching Methods
Each nurse setting has a clinical teacher/mentor who is responsible for planning the clinical period and the learning activities. She/he is responsible for the final evaluation/feedback and signing the documents related to the clinical placement.
The Department of Nursing at UCL and the international clinical placements have developed a box of different learning tools that students are offered to use.
Before arrival, the student will receive a scheduled programme for the whole exchange period.
Conditions
UCL offers clinical placements at Lillebaelt University Hospital (SLB: Sygehus Lillebaelt) in the city of Vejle, Kolding and Middelfart, at the municipalities of Vejle, Kolding and Frederica.
UCL University College, Department of Nursing also offers clinical placements at Odense University Hospital (OUH) in the city of Odense, Svendborg and Nyborg, at the municipalities of Odense, Assens and Svendborg and at some mental health settings in Odense and Middelfart.
In order to complete the traineeship and obtain a certificate, the student has to:
- Have English language skills at level B2. Only exceptions to this requirement are students from Nordic speaking countries.
- Have a week with 40 working hours: 4 days per week at the clinical placement and 1 day per week studying (reading relevant literature related to clinical experiences, and reflections, too).
- Follow the agreed timetable and call the traineeship host if ill.
The student will be provided with uniforms at the clinical placement if needed.
Tuition Fee
Not applicable for EU/EEA-students and exchange students from partner institutions, all other students must pay. In this case, please send an e-mail to international@ucl.dk to learn more.
The student will be evaluated which includes approved/not approved.
If the student brings evaluation/feedback certificates from the home institution, it will be applied.
The internship period will be assessed as approved or not approved. There are no exams nor grading.
